About Steve

Steve has served as the pastor of Community Bible Church since 1994. He holds degrees from Wheaton College (B.A.), Dallas Theological Seminary (Th.M.) and Southeastern Theological Seminary (D.Min.), but his greatest honor is knowing he has been saved by grace and that he gets to walk with Jesus every day. Steve is especially passionate about being a shepherd to the people God brings to CBC, and he loves studying the Word and preaching it verse by verse. He leads two men’s discipleship groups and is privileged to serve the community as a chaplain of the Irving Police Department.

Steve has been married to his wonderful wife, Jan, for 42 years. Anyone who knows Jan knows she has a huge heart for hospitality and sharing the Gospel. She partners faithfully with Steve in ministry, leading a discipleship group for preteen girls and serving with the women’s and evangelism ministries. Steve and Jan have two adult daughters, Christen and Sarah, who live in the area (Sarah is our associate pastor’s wife!), and they love sitting around the table together laughing and sharing meaningful conversations.

In his free time, Steve enjoys golfing, running, playing with their 11-year-old rescue pup, Navy, and working in the yard. When he needs a break to clear his mind, he washes the windows of the church (his old job in seminary).
